Sofisticator - Camping The Vein [Full Album]

Camping The Vein is a full album by Italian thrash metal band Sofisticator, originally posted here on November 19, 2013.

Back then, the band was still relatively new, and this album — released in 2012 — fit perfectly into the wave of old school–oriented thrash metal that was (and maybe still is, who knows these days?) gaining strength. Fast, energetic, and fun, their sound clearly embraces the classic spirit without overthinking it.

Hailing from Florence, Italy, Sofisticator draws strong influence from names such as Exodus, Slayer, Possessed, Overkill, and Venom, which is all good stuff, easy to spot both in the riffs and in the overall attitude. The band started in September 2009, founded by Popi (guitar) and Disossator (vocals), and went through several lineup changes in its early years before stabilizing and recording this material.

One small “problem” back then — at least for non-Italian speakers — was that the band often communicated mostly in Italian, which made it a bit harder to follow everything. Still, even without understanding every word, the enthusiasm and humor came through loud and clear… and Italian is honestly a very pleasant language, even if you can’t read/understand it.

According to Metal Archives, Sofisticator remains active, and their official channels have seen updates as recently as late 2025, so this is far from being just a forgotten relic of the 2010s retro-thrash wave.

Anyway, if you want some raw, old school thrash metal with a sense of fun, this album is well worth checking out… or revisiting.
