We have here a historic track from Scimitar, the heavily old-school-inspired thrash metal band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. The Act of War is notable as the first song composed by the band, showcasing their early energy and classic influences.

The track was part of the EP of the same name, which was released in The Act of War. This video, by it’s turn, was originally published on August 9, 2013, by the band’s frontman Jonny Gray, who is currently pursuing his career of filmmaker, which is granting him some awards. Jonny’s vocals lend a blackened thrash twist at times, adding a dark edge to the band’s already aggressive, no frills and no half-way sound.

And this is what we have here: track that is a must-listen for fans of old-school thrash metal, combining raw energy, classic riffs, and that unmistakable Northern Irish intensity.

Band background

Formed in 2011, Scimitar spent about a year writing music before performing their live debut in June 2012 at The Warzone Centre. From the very beginning, the band showed a rapid evolution in skill and sound, quickly establishing themselves as one of Belfast’s most promising thrash acts.
