Hailing from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Scimitar quickly established themselves, back them, as a force to be reckoned with in the thrash metal scene. This track Erased From Existence, taken from the EP The Act of War, is a clear homage to the iconic 1985 sci-fi film Back to the Future, delivered with relentless thrash energy. Even early on, these guys showed serious talent, creativity, and a deep respect for the Golden Era of Thrash—the 1980s.

Despite their relatively short existence, Scimitar rapidly made their mark, sharing stages with acts like ArnoCorps and performing Ace of Spades on the very day Lemmy left us. Their focus has always been straightforward: 100% thrash, no compromises, no cheap political statements, and no tolerance towards like Guns N’ Roses or The Beatles, which would make the whole deal look awful and worthless.

Scimitar originally formed as a two-piece, writing songs for about six months before recruiting a bassist (some velociraptor) and vocalist to complete the lineup. They spent another year crafting their sound before their first gig in June 2012 at The Warzone Centre in Belfast, which saw an overwhelming fan reaction and a wild circle pit—complete with fans clashing with plastic Scimitar swords. Since then, they’ve shared stages with Exhumed, Monarch!, Hatred, Putrefy, Red Six, Rats Blood, War Iron, Rabid Bitch of The North, and more, building a loyal following in their hometown.

The six-track EP The Act of War, recorded by Niall Doran at Start Together Studios, captures their raw energy perfectly, and Erased From Existence exemplifies their style: fast, precise, and unapologetically thrash. It’s a neck-breaking, adrenaline-fueled homage to both the era of sci-fi nostalgia, but without relying in it, and the golden days of thrash metal.

Scimitar is a band you don’t want to miss, and The Act of War is built to crush your neck.

Lyrics

This is heavy!!

Back to the future
forward to the past
Time is running outso is our gas
Gotta meet the doc or he’ll kick my ass
88 miles an hour on the broad
flame line stretch across the horde
Leaving behind 85
to see if doc is still alive

Erased from existence
we seem to be fading out of time
Erased from existence
we cannot afford to be left behind

Erased from existence
Erased from existence

Enter the fifties
where am i based
Dazed and confused
what is this place
Hill valley it reads
to my shocked face

Enter the diner i hear this thug
calling me an irish bug
Finding out Biff was his name
dont let me see you in here again
…it’s like he’s been

Erased from Existence
we seem to be fading out of time
Erased from Existence
we cannot afford to be left behind

Erased from Existence
Erased from Existence
