Here we have the official video for the song Violent Revolution, published on March 29, 2010, on the official Kreator channel, along with the lyrics of this track — one of my favorites from this German thrash metal band — and not just because of the video, which features some guys dressed as monkeys jumping around, reminiscent of the pranksters occasionally seen on João Kleber‘s pranks.
The song is part of the self-titled album, Violent Revolution, released on September 25, 2001, which marked the band’s return to more genuine thrash after nearly a decade of the absurd sonic experiments presented on the weak Renewal.
This record was also the first to feature lead guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö, and today it is remembered as one of the catalysts for the revitalization of thrash metal in the 2000s. The title track perfectly encapsulates this phase, with aggressive riffs and lyrics and the energy that made Kreator one of the most influential bands of the genre.
Violent Revolution remains relevant to this day and, if you’re lucky, it frequently appears in the band’s setlists. The video is also one of those that was always broadcast widely. I don’t recall if I first saw it on MTV’s Fúria Metal, but in any case, I remember this video quite well from back then.
Letra
Society failed to tolerate me
And I have failed to tolerate society
Still I can’t find what you adore
Inside I hear the echoes of an inner war
Nothing can take the horror from me
Your sick world the loss of all morality
My hate has grown as strong as my confusion
My only hope my only solution
is a Violent RevolutionViolent Revolution, Violent Revolution
Reason for the people to destroyI do not need a cause for my rage
I just despise the nature of the human race
When all I see is repulsion and hate
Violence becomes my only friend, my saving grace
When love is lost beyond your control
A pale shadow of lust can not enlight your soul
So keep your ice cold bitter illusions
I don’t need your empty world my only solution
is a Violent RevolutionViolent Revolution, Violent Revolution
Reason for the people to destroyBeauty is no more it’s all gone
And utopia will not come
Trust I can not feel, only pain
And my burning mind has gone insane
