Kreator - Betrayer

Here we have the classic official video, along with its original English lyrics, for the iconic song Betrayer by Kreator, one of those videos that occasionally aired on Fúria Metal, that MTV show that almost never actually played anything good, but it was what we had for dinner back then.

Originally released in 1989 on the album Extreme Aggression, the track is one of the standout songs on an album full of great material. With cutting riffs, fast drumming, and Mille Petrozza’s signature furious vocals, this Betrayer video was probably one of the first Kreator videos we saw at home.

The video has a raw and direct style, aggressive as it should be. For me, it’s still remembered as an iconic Kreator record, even as the global thrash scene headed into the genre’s 1990s period of relative obscurity, at least generally speaking.

Interestingly, this original post went live exactly 12 years ago (plus about an hour and a half). The song remains relevant today, and the video, even with its low “almost pixel art” quality, still carries the same power that spans decades.
