This performance of Strike of the Beast comes from the Masters of Rock 2012 DVD — and, as every Exodus fan knows, this track is the band’s traditional end-of-show closer, the cue for absolute chaos in the pit.
For this particular gig, Gary Holt was on tour with Slayer, and (as many fans will remember) Rick Hunolt — one half of the legendary H-Team — jumped onstage to fill in. Seeing Hunolt back in action is always a blast; the guy still plays like a razor blade with legs.
Rob Dukes, for his part, looks a bit slimmer here. Keep going like that and soon he might violate the unofficial Exodus frontman requirement of being gloriously overweight — though fortunately, the vocals remain as ferocious as ever.
The festival itself, Masters of Rock 2012, took place between July 12 and July 15, and this clip was uploaded by the makanabik channel on December 17, 2012.
This is old-school chaos. This DVD is absolutely worth grabbing.
